Employment Opportunities The ARC of Essex County is a growing, dynamic social service agency serving children and adults with developmental disabilities. We are looking for caring, compassionate people to teach, mentor and support individuals in their school, home and work lives. Most of our positions require a NJ driver's license and two years of good driving experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is also required, experience and college credit is preferred (or required depending on the position). Benefits are available with full time positions. EOE, M/F/D/V. Current vacancies Substitute - Work a flexible schedule according to your own availability and become familiar with various ARC programs. As a substitute, you will provide direct care to individuals with and assist with the overall operation of the group home. Group Home Managers - Responsibilities include staff supervision, IHP (Individualized Habilitation Plan) coordination, and ensuring that the home meets DDD (Division of Developmental Disabilities) and ARC standards. Requires one year of experience with developmentally disabled population. College degree preferred. Program Aides - Provide direct care to individuals with and assist with the overall operation of the group home. Support individuals in achieving greater levels of independence. Counselors / Assistant Managers - Provide direct care to individuals, assist the Program Manager with the supervision of the home and staff; assist with the development and implementation of Individual Habilitation Plans. Shift is 3 -11 p.m. or 2-10 p.m.; some positions include a weekend shift. Employment Training Specialist - Access each individual’s goals, desires and career aspirations. Conduct job development activities resulting in eventual job placement for individuals with developmental disabilities. College degree preferred. Technician - Provide support, training, and assistance to individuals in center or community day program. Schedule, organize and implement activities. Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week. Recreation Workers - Develop, coordinate and implement recreation activities for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Schedule is flexible- 5 to 15 hours a week. Speech Therapist - F/T or P/T. Evaluate classroom children and administer varied types of speech therapy and language activities according to individual needs. School Nurse - RN and school certification required. Extended school year in our Livingston based school, Stepping Stones. After School Directors and Staff - Duties include planning and directing enriching programs for children with developmental disabilities. Two sites in Livingston and Maplewood. Hours are from 3 to 6 pm for the Sept thru June school year. Summer Camp Opportunities Camp Director, Lifeguards, Camp Nurse, Camp Counselors Join us this summer at Camp Hope--our day camp located in East Hanover, NJ. The camp serves children and young adults with developmental disabilities; it is located on 7 wooded acres and offers swimming, sports, music, art, nature activities and field trips. From 8:30 am to 3:15 pm Monday through Friday--our focus is on creating a structured, caring and fun environment for all. Contact Information
