Registration Procedures & General Information
Registration

Select
all of the activities you are interested in participating in. Be sure
that none are on the same date/time.

Fill out the
monthly activity sign-up sheets completely and return them to: The ARC
of Essex County, Attn: Recreation 123 Naylon Avenue, Livingston, NJ
07039. If you are a new participant, we need to know so we can send
out an emergency card and information packet to you. You can NOT
participate until all of your emergency information is received at the
main office.

Enclose a
check or money order made out to The ARC of Essex County for the total
amount of all activities you are signed up to attend. If you are not
currently a member of The ARC of Essex County, you must send $25.00 to
enroll. Only members of The ARC of Essex County are eligible to
participate in recreation. This $25.00 fee enrolls you for a one-year
period. You must renew annually. If unsure of your families’ ARC
membership status, please call Bernice Engel at (973) 535-1181, ext.
1227.

Two fees will
be determined for each recreational activity. A recreation membership
fee will be established and enforced. All participants have the option
of paying a $50.00 recreational membership fee at the beginning of the
calendar, three times per year. By paying this fee up front, members
will be able to pay a lower cost for individual events throughout
those four months. If you opt not pay the recreational membership fee,
you may still choose to sign up for events but will be required to pay
the higher non-member fee (approximately $5.00 more per activity).
- Please remember that events fill up
quickly, so please return your registration forms as soon as possible.
All events are on a first come, first serve basis. Whenever possible,
a waiting list will be established. You MUST register for every event
you plan on attending. If you are not registered, you will be denied
access to the program.
Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend a program for any reason, it is your responsibility
to call the recreation office at least 24 hours before a program to
cancel. If the program is on a Sunday a phone call must be received by 3
p.m. on the Friday before. This allows us to provide an opportunity to an
individual on our waiting list to take part in an activity. For pre-paid
events, if we cannot find someone to take your place, you will not be
given credit for the event. If credit is granted, you will receive a
credit slip in the mail. This should be returned to us when you plan to
use the credit. Failure to follow the cancellation policy may result in
either being billed for the missed event or not receiving a credit for the
missed event. Additionally, if fewer than five participants are signed
up for any event, The ARC of Essex County reserves the right to cancel the
event with credits given to anyone registered.
Weather Policy
We are committed to having our programs run unless it would be dangerous
to do so due to weather conditions. If a program is cancelled, we will try
to contact you at home, if possible. However, all program cancellations
will be left on an outgoing message. To check if a program is cancelled,
please call 973-535-1181, ext. 1247. As with the cancellation policy,
credits will NOT be given for pre-paid ticketed events. Credits will be
given for all other events. |
