After-School Recreation
The After-School Recreation Program meets five days per week at the ARC Livingston Community Resource Center and the Maplewood Community Resource Center from 2:45 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. The program was established to meet the needs of parents who were seeking appropriate after-school care for their children with developmental disabilities.
The program serves as a recreational opportunity for the children. The daily schedule includes free play, structured play and an organized group activity such as a cooking lesson or an arts and crafts project. Play activities concentrate on gross and fine motor skills, as well as socialization.
Other considerations
• Staff-to-children ratio is 1:3.
• Transportation to the center is always provided by school districts; pick-up is by parents.
• Snacks are provided.
• Fees are based on the number of days attending each week.
